Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Cherokee, NC

If you like the mountains, waterfalls, meadows, ands cultural sites, one place you might consider is the Great Smoky Mountains National Park at Cherokee, NC.I made this incredible trip from April 29, through May 2, 2010. This was a trip I will never forget. The sunrise and sunset photo ops did not materialize, so that was a disappointment. There were many other photo ops that made the trip a success. Wildflowers were abundant almost everywhere I visited. Also, water shots were plentiful. On several days the mountains were socked-in and affected the ability to travel through the mountains. However the fog provided one of the most beautiful sights. The visit to Cataloochee was rewarded with wildlife sightings of adult elk, not one but about ten. Watching them graze was fun. I got several good shots of them grazing close to the trees and some ventured toward the meadow near the photographers. Overall the trip was a wet, chilly, cloudy, and sometime sunny, fantastic photographic adventure. Here are some shots taken on the trip.
